August Summer Schedule

With summer In full swing, why not take the time to check out what the art world has to offer? Here’s a look at five current displays that are sure to keep your month interesting!

Sculpture in the City

Botanic, Jennifer Steinkamp, 2015-16

Now celebrating its 9th edition, sculpture in the City has shown over 112 artworks to date.

Take advantage of the sunny weather and wander the City’s public spaces to discover a brand-new selection of artworks by internationally acclaimed and emerging artists.

This year’s offerings include the likes of Do Ho Suh’s ambitious installation, Bridging Home, in which a to-scale replica of the traditional Hankok- style Korean House perches atop of Footway Bridge as if it landed there by fluke. You can also find Jennifer Steinkamp’s Botanic, which is a screening of animated flowers in a constant state of collision, blown by an unseen force.

This brilliant project demands a re-examination of our urban landscape and confronts us with new ways in which we can engage with public spaces.

Showing until: April 2020

Space Odyssey

Space Odyssey

Space Odyssey, Warrington Museum

Curated in-house by Roger Jeffrey, Space Odyssey is a visual and immersive exhibition using multiple projectors and unusual ambient sounds.

Also on display is a rare part of one of the four bi-stem booms that were used on Hubble’s first set of solar arrays; this item has orbited the earth for eight years.
